He would describe himself as a meat and potatoes type of guy, and she would say pasta and veggies rule. He likes (terrible) action movies, and she likes period pieces. He ‘s into heavy rock, and she sings lady gaga in the shower. The only thing they have in common- their passion for helping others.

We met in college. He was my best friend when I felt the  loneliest; adjusting to college wasn’t an easy task for me. At the time, we both had significant others, but I knew that neither would last. I wouldn’t say that I knew I wanted to marry him when I met him, but I just knew that he would play a big role in my life. So I took my place in the back seat, so to speak, and I waited as patiently as I could for the rest of my life to start.

Well, his relationship did not make it through the summer when KJ and I parted ways. But when we came back to start our sophomore year, he had a new girlfriend. And I was furious. So after a few weeks of tolerating this twist in my plan, I was honest with him. I told him that I liked him, and this girl wasn’t right for him. I told him that if he felt anything for me, that this was the time to make it happen. So they broke up and we started dating a month later.

This blog is going to chronicle the journey KJ and I will take to make it to the alter. This may be the longest 18 months of my life.
